West Coast Tavern: Top Mule Menu in San Diego

By November 17, 2016 No Comments

The mule cocktail has been around for over 70 years with origins going back to 1941 where legend has it that an excess supply of vodka and ginger beer led to the birth of the copper mug concoction. West Coast Tavern is a laid back urban tavern set in one of North Park’s most historic buildings with a kickin’ cocktail menu that features nine variations of the classic mule drink. Mule lovers can take a seat on West Coast’s patio that overlooks University Ave and take a sip of their Unicorn with fruit-infused Smirnoff Vodka. For gin drinkers, their Narwhal mule is made with Tanqueray and cucumber bitters. Or those looking for something on the sweeter side can have a taste of their The Dude mule carefully crafted with Ketel One, Kahlua and cream. Each variation of the cocktail includes ginger beer and bitters.  My personal favorite was The Stallion, a mule with Captain Morgan white rum and creme de mure. The My Little Pony was a crowd favorite with Ciroc Peach Vodka. The best part? Their HUGE mule pitchers are only $20 during Happy Hour, seven days a week from 4-6 p.m.
