Cheese lovers rejoice, Bencotto has changed the cheese world for the better. Upping their pasta game, Bencotto now serves their weekly pasta special in a crispy parmesan bowl or in Italian, parma-piatto. Yes, this is everything you can imagine it would be, fresh Parmigiana Reggiano shaved, melted and molded into an edible serving plate filled with Bencotto’s hand-made pasta. encotto’s parma-piatto is available now for brunch, lunch, and dinner, so you can break you diet any time of day.

Until the end of January, enjoy new ice cream flavors from Salt & StrawCrafted by head ice cream maker/co-founder Tyler Malek, the indulgent ice creams offer interpretations of nostalgic treats with flavors that include Toasted Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies, Elvis’s Peanut Butter Banana Split, Candied Apricot Faux-yo, Aquafaba Marshmallow Oatmeal Moon Pies and Heidi Ho’s Lemon Cheesecake. The Vegandulgence series is available through Jan 31 at the Little Italy scoop shop + via Postmates, in case you dont want to get off your couch.

Known for their weekly cheese wheel special, it’s hard to stay on your diet at Monello, which is fine by us! Located next door to their brother restaurant Bencotto, they boast 25 different kinds of hand-made pasta available daily. Although it’s hard to choose, for something deliciously decadent enjoy the Gnocchi di Zucca – butternut squash gnocchi in a gorgonzola cream sauce.

Trust is my all time favorite San Diego restaurant to eat at. I always think I’m going to eat healthy, but end up splurging on plate after plate of mind blowing dishes.  Break your diet with their famed Braised Oxtail Raviolini, one of my “must orders” on the menu, with pine nuts, carrots, oxtail jus, horseradish, and whipped ricotta.

Though known for their imaginatively crafted cocktails by Stephen Kurpinsky, Hundred Proof‘s bar style menu does not disappoint. Executive Chef Brad Wise has kept the menu short and simple while focusing on quality ingredients and flavors. Don’t skip the HP Burger with English cheddar, HP spread, pickles, onions, iceberg lettuce, and fries. Some call it a fancier In-N-Out burger; we just call it delicious.

Step into The Westgate Room at The Westgate downtown where Executive Chef Fabrice Hardel gives French cuisine a modern twist blended with Southern California flavors. Indulge your taste buds with their Day Boat Scallop, Baja Prawn Risotto with huitlacoche, tomatillo salsa, and crème fraîche.

Dinner with a view, JRDN offers California casual paired with west coast hip. You’ll leave craving more of their Lobster Pastawith butternut squash spaghetti, pancetta, crispy garbanzo beans, porcini mushrooms, and chive.

If you’ve been missing carbs, head to Pâtisserie Melanie to get your fix. While Melanie’s croissants might be the best in San
Diego, I prefer the more regional French pastries, like Kouign-Amanns, a buttery muffin-shaped pastry from the Brittany region of France.
