That’s why they are kicking off a new weekly special, Taco Twos-Day at the Park, starting October 2nd. Every Tuesday starting at 3:00 p.m., head to “the park” to enjoy their $2 taco bar. Meat choices for the special include brisket, pulled pork or smoked chicken, and you can top your tacos with smoked verde salsa, tapenade, house pickles and olives, bacon, onions and tajin limes. Park 101 also offers a build-your-own Michelada bar that you can enjoy throughout the evening.  October 6 – Newest Breakfast Republic Opens In Carmel ValleySan Diego-based Rise & Shine Restaurant Group is gearing up for the opening of its newest Breakfast Republic location in Carmel Valley, officially set for Friday October 6th.    October 13 – Pints, pinups, and puppiesEnjoy a cold one for a good cause next Friday, October 13 at The Rabbit Hole in Normal Heights from 6-9 p.m. Pints & Paws is working with Baja Dog Rescue to raise money to help rescue and rehabilitate unwanted, abandoned and neglected dogs and find them loving, happy homes. The event theme is Pinups and Puppies, hosted with pinup doll Nicki Reynolds and friends. There will be live music, great drink and food specials with a portion of proceeds going to Baja Dog Rescue and even an artist live painting a dog portrait. Plus, a raffle featuring: Hotel Stays, a Baja Adventures Package, Restaurant Gift Certificates, Doggie Service Certificates, and more!  October 13 – Nomad Donuts Grand Opening
Nomad Donuts will celebrate the launch of its new North Park shop with a public Grand Opening on Friday, October 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. Taking place at 3102 University Avenue, this evening will offer guests complimentary bites of Nomad’s globally-inspired donuts and pastries as well as Montreal-style bagels and sandwiches, while supplies last. Guests will also have multiple chances to win Nomad Donuts gift cards and garb throughout the evening and into the weekend.

No RSVP is required.  October 14 – Taste of North Park Home to culinary innovation and cutting-edge brew-masters, North Park is a go-to San Diego destination for everything food and drink. On Saturday, October 14th, from 11 a.m. -3 p.m., the Taste of North Park invites culinary enthusiasts to enjoy over 50 food tastes from some of San Diego’s best restaurants and  region’s craft beers from 15 local breweries.Foodies and connoisseurs of the craft can get a spot at this delicious event by visiting: northparkmainstreet.com/events/taste-north-park.   October 15 – Bike for Boobs On Sunday, October 15 at 3 p.m., dozens of pink-adorned supporters will grab bikes and join the San Diego County Bike Coalition for a casual ride around Shelter Island. Following the ride, guests will reunite at The Wine Pub’s enchanting outdoor patio for live music, gourmet food, auction items and, of course, wine.   October 16 – Sliders & Craft Beer Dinner at Farmer’s BottegaFour courses of sliders paired with beer – aka a dream dinner for burgers lovers of San Diego!  Farmer’s Bottega is hosting a Sliders & Craft Beer dinner, taking place on Monday October 16th, on their garden-style patio. October 18 – Barons Market Backroom Beer Pairing 
On October 18, Barons Market will transform loading docks and stock rooms into food and local brew speakeasies. Friends will gather at their neighborhood store to sample beers from Green Flash Brewing with gourmet bites made from the market’s selection of all-natural ingredients.   October 21 – Flower Hill Pumpkin Palooza On Saturday, October 21 from 10 a.m. – noon, Flower Hill is putting on a free community event – Pumpkin Palooza! Families can purchase their pumpkins at Whole Foods and then bring it over to east courtyard where there will be kid-safe carving stations set-up for them to carve their jack o lanterns.  October 21 – Second Annual Bankers Hill Fall Festival Highlights Local Food, Wellness, Art The historic community of Bankers Hill will celebrate local business and the new season with the second annual Bankers Hill Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 1 to 5 p.m. Designed to showcase Bankers Hill as a destination neighborhood, the Bankers Hill Fall Festival is a walk-around event inviting all ages to explore ten blocks along Fifth and Fourth Avenue. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the event organizer, the Bankers Hill Business Group. Beginning at 1 p.m., attendees can visit the architecturally stunning St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral at Fifth and Nutmeg to pick up maps displaying a trail of participating businesses offering local tastes, wellness demos, one-day shopping specials and other surprises. More than thirty neighborhood businesses including restaurants, fitness studios, boutiques, spas and art galleries will showcase their fare and wares inside their doors and upon sidewalks; streets will remain open to traffic and offer plentiful parking. Shuttle service along Fifth Avenue will be provided at no cost. Attendees will taste the flavors of eateries including Cucina Urbana, Barrio Star, Corner Drafthouse, Wetstone Wine Bar, Parc Bistro, Pizzicato, Juice Alchemy, James Coffee and The WestBean Coffee Roasters, while wellness centers such as Orangetheory Fitness, Club Pilates, Sojourn Healing Collective and Reiki Room SD will offer health-minded demos. Additional businesses including Thread + Seed, Sew Loka, V Collective, Plush Salon, Broadstone Balboa Park, Denise Barrow Salon and Spa, St. Paul’s Senior Services, North Island Credit Union, Edward Jones Investments and Inscriptu will open their doors and introduce San Diegans to more exciting features of the neighborhood, while galleries including Danielle Zhang Art and Pilar Paintings will welcome guests to peruse their works.

Bankers Hill Fall Festival tickets are $15 pre-sale and $20 the week of the event, and can be purchased at www.bankershillbusinessgroup.com/events.  Oct. 19 – Oct. 22 – OktoBIERfest at the Grand BiergartenGuests can enjoy free admission to the event where they can sip on craft brews by Ballast Point Brewery and dine on traditional biergarten cuisine including brats, burgers and more. Guests can also play lawn games and listen to live music while enjoying San Diego’s nice fall weather. On Sunday morning, there will be Fruhschoppen, a traditional Bavarian brunch. OktoBIERfest is open to all ages and dog-friendly.  Oct 25 – Kain-Na at JSixYou might remember Filipino Flavor from earlier this year, a collaboration dinner at which four first-generation Filipino chefs joined forces under Jsix’s roof to share their heritage through delicious food. Jsix’s Chef Anthony Sinsay is at it again, this time with Kain-Na—a multi-course dining experience produced in partnership with the Filipino-American Chamber of Commerce that will explore the progression of Filipino food history. By his side will be local chefs and Chef Celebration scholarship recipients Tara Luansing Monsod, Jordana Francisco, and Justin Castillo. Located in the Gaslamp Quarter’s adjoining East Village, Jsix sits in the long ago epicenter of San Diego’s Filipino community and further provides a strong connection to the cuisine. The translation of the Tagalog word kain-na is “we eat” but this dining experience is not just about the food. On Wednesday, October 25 from 5:30-9:30 p.m., guests will be eating for a cause. The dinner will be broken up into four courses, each course giving guests insight into a particular era of Filipino history:  First Course: A look at pre-historic Filipino food and dietSecond Course: How trade with surrounding Asian countries influenced the cuisineThird Course: The effects of Spanish colonizationDessert: Filipino-American cuisine today All proceeds from the Kain-Na multi-course dinner will go toward the Chef Celebration Foundation of San Diego, a nonprofit organization that offers annual scholarships to 12 local chefs for a trip to the Culinary Institute of America’s Greystone Campus in Napa Valley, CA. The festival combines the interactivity of a golf demo day with sampling of San Diego’s finest craft beer. The San Diego Fall Golf & Craft Beer Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday 10/27 & from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday 10/28. Kids under 12 can attend the festival for free!    Oct. 28 & 29 –  APDA West Coast Parkinson’s Educational ForumThe American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) is hosting a very special weekend for people with PD and their care partners on Saturday, October 28 – Sunday, October 29, at the Anaheim Marriott in Anaheim, CA. The APDA West Coast Parkinson’s Educational Forum will be a weekend of support, care and discovery for anyone impacted by PD – people living with the disease, their care partner, friends and family, etc.  This two-day event is FREE and will feature some of the best and brightest minds in the world of Parkinson’s who will talk about the latest in PD treatment, medications, and research. Organized by the San Diego Museum Council (SDMC), this annual program provides free admission for kids 12 and under at 43 art, cultural, and science museums across San Diego County. Nearly 20,000 kids participated in the program in 2016! Free admission is available for up to two kids for every adult ticket purchase. To participate, download the Kids Free in October coupon at sandiegomuseumcouncil.org. Simply present the coupon at the participating museum’s admissions desk.
