Labor Day Weekend Happenings in San Diego

Labor Day will be here before we know it and here are some of the fun happenings around San Diego!

San Diego’s favorite Gaslamp District party spot will be celebrating the last chance to sport white (don’t wear white after Labor Day) during their Labor Day weekend Wear White Party! They’re kicking things off on Sunday, September 1st at 9 p.m. with karaoke downstairs at ginger’s and DJ Schoeny spinning beats upstairs at 10 p.m. Guests can enjoy drink specials from Titto’s vodka all night long. Come back for the White Party brunch on Monday, September 2nd. From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with live music by The Counterfeits at 11 a.m. Taste classic brunch dishes like the homemade Brown Ale Biscuits and Gravy with fried eggs and pork sausage links, and much more. barleymash also serves breakfast cocktails and Bloody Mary’s to keep you going after a long weekend spent celebrating!

Park 101

Join Park 101 in kicking off Labor Day Weekend, while also saying Aloha (bye) to summer, at their Luau on Thursday, August 29th! The fun begins at 4:00 p.m. with leis for all, tropical drink specials and authentic Hawaiian dishes such as a Sweet Chili Pineapple WingsTri Tip Loco Moco Sandwich, with rice and gravy, and Katsu Chicken and Spam Fried Rice. The eats are worthy of praise and the overall atmosphere mimics that of a true, Hawaiian Luau. Be sure to stick around for Polynesian dance performances and a fire show once the sun sets – Hawaiian shirts and island attire is encouraged! On Labor Day, head into Park 101 with the fam for delicious BBQ eats and cold drinks – they’re pet friendly, too, so bring your four legged companions.3

Miss B’s Coconut Club

Raise a glass to the final days of summer during Miss B’s Coconut Club’s Labor Day Weekend celebration. On Saturday, August 31st enjoy specials on BBQ Sliders and Juneshine, a San Diego local Kombucha company, with flavors like Cucumber Mojito, Rosé, Acai Berry, Blood Orange Mint and Midnight Painkiller. On Sunday, September 1st, join in for an All White Brunch at Miss B’s, because this is technically the last day you can fashionably wear your white attire. Nosh on brunch bites and sip on cocktails like the Kale-ribbean Mimosa, with fresh kale, papaya and mango.3

Louisiana Purchase

North Park’s neighborhood restaurant and bar, Louisiana Purchase, is celebrating Labor Day by kicking off the weekend with a Burlesque Night on Friday, August 30th. There will be two shows, at 9:45 p.m. and 10:45 p.m., along with cocktail specials throughout the evening. On Monday, September 2nd, Louisiana Purchase will be a hosting a neighborhood fish fry and all are welcome to attend! The fish fry kicks off at 12 p.m. and executive chef Q will also be cooking up ribs and burgers.2

Mavericks Beach Club

Epic San Diego summers deserve epic send-offs and Mavericks Beach Club will be hosting a one-of-a-kind Labor Day Luau on Sunday, August 31st, from Noon to 9:00 p.m. Head to the Pacific Beach popular hangout for entertainment, including the roasting of a full pig and hula dancers, delicious eats and tropical drink specials. This is sure to be one for the books, so you won’t want to miss out!

The Smoking Gun

This Labor Day weekend, don your beach attire and head to the bar! The Smoking Gun is hosting a mock pool party sure to make a splash. On Sunday September 1st between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., staff will be dressed in pool attire with a 70s/80s twist and a DJ spinning classic yacht rock to set the mood. Think Hall & Oats – “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do).” Watch the babes of Baywatch on any one of the TVs and sip on a $5 White Claw – because that’s what everyone is drinking these days. Other specials include bottomless mimosas, DoleWhip influenced slushy, Sex on the Beach, Hurricanes and grilled pineapple teriyaki double cheeseburger. Come back on Monday for their industry night special, where chef Andy Weiss will dish out a complimentary White (Crab) Claw Pasta to those who work in the biz. There will also be raffle prizes, drink specials and more from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.!
