September 1 – End of Summer Luau at SEA180°
Join SEA180° on Sunday, September 1st from 6-9:30 p.m. for a Sunset Luau on the restaurant’s beachfront terrace. Start with delicious island-inspired hors d’oeuvres such as coconut shrimp and Spam musubi. Then indulge in a seaside buffet of Hawaiian dishes including macadamia-crusted fresh catch, huli huli chicken and kalua pua’a (a roasted pig). September 5 -Sip & Savasana

Kimpton Solamar is hosting its next Sip & Savasana rooftop yoga event on Thursday, September 5, from 6 -7 p.m., with yoga starting promptly at 6:15 p.m. The light vinyasa flow yoga class will be led by a special guest teacher, Jenn Bodnar of Yoga Digest, and will take place at the hotel’s Upper East Bar rooftop, overlooking the downtown San Diego skyline. The event will also have a live DJ, complimentary ‘sips’ and plenty of Instagrammable yogi moments. Sip & Savasana is free to attend. NOTE:10% of all sales at Hotel Solamar’s JSix restaurant the night of Sip & Savasana will go to One Love Movement, one of the largest charity yoga events in the county that stands for providing social justice to kids.

September 8 – Bubbles & Brunch

Toast one last time to warmer weather and gather beachside at JRDN in Pacific Beach for some bubbly and brunch with a view. On Sunday, September 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., JRDN will feature sparkling wine from Roederer Estate and Champagne Roederer, while wine professionals pour guests selected bubbly perfectly paired with a three-course brunch prepared by Executive Chef Dave Warner.

Roederer Estate is nestled in Mendocino County’s fog-shrouded, Anderson Valley. As the California property of Champagne Louis Roederer, Roederer Estate builds upon a centuries-old tradition of fine winemaking. September 12 – Art as Health at San Diego Art Institute

San Diego Art Institute will promote cultural awareness and provide a space for HIV education and testing with Art as Health on September 12. From 12 to 6 p.m. participants will receive complimentary admission to SDAI’s newest exhibit Forging Territories and free HIV testing from the AntiViral Research Center at UCSD for gay and bisexual men and transgender women. At 6 p.m. the day’s panel discussion Race, HIV and Art: The Impact of HIV/AIDS on LGBTQ Artists and Communities of Color will discuss the latest developments around the virus and current methods of testing. The panel will feature Joey Terrill, a Forging Territories artist and the Director of Global Engagement with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation. The evening will conclude with a Q&A session and complimentary refreshments. Reservation to Art as Health are not required. September 13 – DAOU wine dinner at 333 Pacific
Oceanside’s 333 Pacific hosts a 6-course wine dinner on Friday, September 13th. Featuring paired red and white wines from Paso Robles favorite, DAOU Vineyards & Winery, diners will enjoy the best from the surf and the turf including a seared scallop prepared with green apple, vanilla, browned butter and tarragon; roasted lamb with a cocoa-orange dust, fennel and a red wine reduction; and a dry-aged New York Strip with a roast plum demi-glace. September 14 -26th Annual Classic Longboard Surfing Contest

The Old Mission Beach Athletic Club (OMBAC) is calling all surfers to grab their vintage longboards and paddle out for a nostalgic competition at the North Side of Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach. The 26th Annual Classic Longboard Surfing Contest will take place on Saturday, September 14 and is an opportunity for surfers to gather and pay homage to the “Golden Age” of surfing. All contestants must surf on longboards made in 1969 or older, nine feet or longer, with no leash. The two divisions include the Open Division for men and women ages 17 and up and the “Menehune” Division for men and women 16 years of age and younger.

Spectators are encouraged to grab their binoculars to view the competition from the pier which provides them with a “bird’s eye” view. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Prevent Drowning Foundation (PDF) of San Diego, previously known as the San Diego Junior Lifeguard Foundation. Check-in for contestants will begin at 7:30 A.M. with the first heat scheduled to paddle out at 8:15 A.M. Advance registration to participate is $30 per person and day of registration is $40 per person. There is no fee for spectators. September 16t – Louisiana Purchase Collective Dinner

On September 16thLouisiana Purchase will be hosting a Sicilian-themed Culinary Collective Dinner Experience, which begins at 7:00 p.m. The North Park eatery and bar will be featuring a private dinner where guests will enjoy five courses designed by Culinary Director Quinnton “Q” Austin and sips from the Beverage Director Rob McShea. September 21 – 92119 Party

The Pioneer is celebrating their local community this September with their 92119 Party, taking place on September 21st (aka 9/21/19 – get it?) starting at 7 p.m. The ticketed event is priced at $30 per person, and consists of four food and drink stations situated around the restaurant, each serving unlimited bites paired with a number of bourbon tastings, plus a welcome drink. Each guest will receive a raffle ticket at the door, all of which will be entered into a drawing taking place every 30 minutes throughout the event, with the chance to win a grand prize basket full of goodies. September 22 – ArtWalk

The 2nd annual ArtWalk Carlsbad will return to Armada Drive to bring immersive art experiences, visual arts and live music—including a performance by A.J. Croce—to North County on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22. The ticketed fine arts festival will elevate the grounds above the Carlsbad Flower Fields as chalk artists create temporary masterpieces live and more than 175 visual artists showcase and sell their unique art pieces. Art enthusiasts can explore every medium of art including painting, sculpture, glass work, fine jewelry, photography and more. Attendees can also enjoy live entertainment, a wine and beer pavilion, street food options, interactive art experiences; KidsWalk, a family-friendly interactive art area, and more! The fine art festival supports ArtWalk’s non-profit partner, ArtReach which delivers high-quality art education to K-8 schools throughout San Diego. Kids 16 and under are free. 

September 22 – Harvest for Hope Fundraiser

On Sunday, September 22, join the Emilio Nares Foundation (ENF) for its 16th annual Harvest for Hope fundraiser. The annual event will take place at Liberty Station’s BRICK from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature some of the most renowned chefs in San Diego. Guests will enjoy hand-crafted unique dishes paired with wine, beer, music, and a live and silent auction. Harvest for Hope aims to raise money for low-income, underprivileged families whose children are battling cancer. New in 2019 will be a special appearance by live art entertainer, muralist and cancer survivor, Amy Burkman. General admission tickets cost $160 per person and can be purchased here.

September 26t – Parktoberfest 2019

On Thursday, September 26th, head up to Park 101 forParktoberfest 2019! From 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Alesmith will be hosting a tap takeover with their Oktoberfest MarzenLuped In IPA and .394 Pale Ale brews. Park 101 will also be selling an Alesmith bundle package, $20 for a stein and tee shirt. This special deal includes $5 fills of Alesmith all night, but there is limited availability, so don’t miss out.

September 29 -National Coffee Day

September 29 – beWELL Fitness Fair

The La Jolla and Carmel Valley units of Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary invites the community to enjoy the Second Annual beWELL Fitness Fair on Sunday, September 29 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at La Jolla High School. This family-friendly fundraiser features a fitness boot camp, yoga class, local food and beverage vendors, live entertainment and an opportunity drawing for attendees to enjoy! All proceeds from the event will go towards the new Copely Psychiatric Emergency Department, the first emergency facility dedicated to children experiencing mental or behavioral crisis.

Tickets for adults are $20 and $13 for children ages 13 – 18. Kids 12 and under are free. Bring a group of 10 or more to enjoy 10% off admission. The La Jolla YMCA will be offering its Kid’s Corner program, a supervised child care program featuring an obstacle course, games and more so parents can participate in the event.
