Macy’s Museum Month — Feb. 1 – 28

Starting Feb. 1, adults and children from all over Southern California are invited to experience the 29th Annual Macy’s Museum Month with half-off admission at over 40 San Diego Museum Council museums.  From historians at heart to entertainment seekers, there is something for everyone at participating museums and historical sites. Participants can pick up a Macy’s Museum Month Pass at any area Macy’s store to enjoy half-off admission to all of the participating San Diego Museum Council member museums and you can see a full list here. 

Macy’s Museum Month was created in 1989 to promote awareness of the region’s museums, historical sites, educational institutions, and cultural offerings. This month-long promotion has grown to become a cultural tradition unrivaled in the United States. Last year, over 30,000 visitors used a Macy’s Museum Month Pass!

February 3 – Yoga and Mimosas

Calling all yogis! Nautilus Tavern, a neighborhood bar and grill recently opened in La Jolla, is hosting a Yoga and Mimosas event on Saturday, February 3rd at 9:00 a.m. For $10, stretch out your mat on the restaurant’s back patio and sip on mimosas while channeling your inner warrior II.

After the class, be sure to check out Nautilus’ lunch menu to refuel you for the day. With sandwiches and salads, like the Mahi Salad with grilled mahi, mixed greens, cabbage and carrots, grilled veggies and a wasabi vinaigrette dressing, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

February 5 – PB Beach Cleanup

We live by the beach to enjoy its many natural gifts, be it surfing, a restful place to practice yoga or to just enjoy the tranquility of the ocean waves and breeze. Since it takes such good care of us, we need to return the favor! The Duck Dive is hosting a beach cleanup in Pacific Beach on Monday, February 5th. Anyone looking to lend a hand in keeping our beaches beautiful is encouraged to come out for a fun morning!

Signups begin at Duck Dive at 9:00 a.m., where the crew will be handing out complimentary coffee and donuts to volunteers. From 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., meet other San Diegans while helping clean the beach, just down the street from the bar and eatery. Afterwards, enjoy a complimentary TJ Dog and Mexican Lager!

February 6 – Havana Paint Night

On Tuesday, February 6thMiss B’s Coconut Club is launching their new Havana Paint Night to benefit a cause that is very near and dear to their heart. The first paint night event, “Coconuts for Kathy”, is a fundraiser for the mother of a Miss B’s team member who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.

The event will begin at 7:00 p.m., but plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to check in. Other details include:

  • $25 per person, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting Kathy’s fight against breast cancer during the launch of Havana Paint Night.
  • All supplies will be provided – canvases, brushes and paint.
  • Class will be led by an instructor, so don’t be shy if you aren’t a natural-born Raúl Martínez!
  • Drinks specials throughout the evening!

Miss B’s, an island-inspired bar and eatery located in Mission Beach, serves tropical cocktails and punch bowls, along with authentic Caribbean cuisine, like Cubano-style sandwiches and jerk chicken. Havana Paint Night will be a reoccurring event held the first Tuesday of each month, but you won’t want to miss out on this very special inaugural evening.

February 10 – Mardi Gras Beads, Bites & Booze

2018 is officially here and it’s time to let the good times roll, or as the Cajun expression goes, “laissez les bons temps rouler”! The Gaslamp Mardi Gras Beads, Bites and Booze Tour is back and bringing the NOLA vibes to downtown San Diego! Grab your crew and indulge in this holiday-inspired tasting tour filled with 20 delicious bites and 20 Mardi Gras-inspired sips throughout the historic Gaslamp Quarter.

Start your Mardi-party in the true fashion of eating, drinking, and merrymaking with this tantalizing tour on Saturday, February 10th, from 1pm-5pm. Of course, it isn’t a Mardi-party without BEADS, BEADS, and more BEADS! Be sure to collect all your beads from each hotspot along this delicious self-guided stroll. February 13 – Woodstock’s Pizza + Firestone Walker’s Milk + Cookies Event

Cookies and milk: the ultimate pairing. A childhood favorite, it’s time to take this tradition to the next level with Woodstock’s Pizza’s Milk & Cookies Event for the grown-ups! Hosting in partnership with California’s own Firestone Walker Brewing, Woodstock’s is bringing together our two favorite things – for only $7, savor a pint of Firestone’s Nitro Merlin Milk Stout along with a thick slice of Woodstock’s signature warm and gooey Chocolate Chip Cinnabread! February 13 – Crawfish Boil at The Smoking Gun

Laissez le bon temps rouler at The Smoking Gun! On Tuesday, February 13th, the retro cocktail lounge and Southern-influenced eatery, located in the Gaslamp District, is hosting a Crawfish Boil to celebrate Fat Tuesday.

 Get the Mardi Gras party started with:

  • All-you-can-eat crawfish for $25. The authentic boil will include newspaper-covered tables, allowing guests to get down and dirty on some crawfish.
  • Drink specials will be offered, including bar manager Eric Johnson’s SoCal take on the NOLCA Classic Hurricane rum cocktail. Sazerac cocktails and Abita beers (the local Louisiana brew) will also be on special.
  • Music and fun all night long!

The Smoking Gun also has ping pong, pool and foosball tables to keep you entertained while you sip on delicious drinks. Snap some fun group pictures in the photo booth to remember a fun night for years to come!

February 17 – Cans & Jams

Searsucker San Diego is partnering with local breweries on the third Saturday of each month to bring San Diego beer lovers an afternoon of Cans & Jams. To celebrate this month’s Cans & Jams, Searsucker will have Mike Hess Brewing Company in the house onSaturday, Feb. 17 from 2-5pm with plenty of giveaways and discounted cans to go around. Sip on craft varieties while jamming out to live music from The Brewhahas and snacking on happy hour bites.

 February 28 – Seinfeld-themed trivia at Miss B’s Coconut Club

NO SOUP FOR YOU! But you can enjoy a fun evening of Seinfeld-themed trivia at Miss B’s Coconut Club on Wednesday, February 28th.

Get a group together and come test out your knowledge of the popular 1990’s show that follows popular comedian Jerry Seinfeld and his friends in their everyday life in New York City. From awkward dates and Chinese takeout, to an unreturned library book and shuffling through different jobs, every episode features various quirky situations we can all related to in some way or another.

Throughout trivia, enjoy drink specials on the popular Crazy Joe Davola cocktail, made with spiced rum, cold brew coffee, Giffard banana liqueur, coconut crème and pineapple. Food will also be served; choose between Cuban-style burgers, Jerk Rubbed Chicken Wings or salads, among other tasty items.

With year-round near perfect weather, outdoor movie nights in San Diego are a great way to get the family out of the house, or to gather friends for a few drinks and a flick. Park 101, an open-air dining establishment in Carlsbad, hosts Movie Night in the Park every Wednesday evening!

Get there early to grab a tasty dinner before the first movie begins at 6:00 p.m. The menu consists of salads, smoked meat platters like Brisket and Tri Tip, and sandwiches. Don’t forget to pack blankets in the car, as it still gets chilly once the sun goes down.

Directly after the first film will be an adult only movie, for those 21 years and older. Sip on beer, wine or cocktails while watching some of your favorite films, but just be sure to leave to kids at home!
