August 1 – Icon Wine Dinner at Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse

This 5-course dinner highlights some of Napa Valley’s first energy-conscious and environmentally-friendly wineries owned and/or in partnership with Governor Gavin Newsom. August 3 – Doing Good Never Tasted So Good

GelatoLove, a gelato venture that provides a healthier choice of high-quality Italian artisan gelato, made with only the best natural ingredients andProduceGood, a non-profit that reduces waste and hunger by connecting surplus produce to food insecurity in San Diego County are looking to change this by teaming up to host “Doing Good Never Tasted So Good” on Saturday, August 3 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the GelatoLove Carlsbad location (300 Carlsbad Village Dr. Ste 104, Carlsbad, CA 92008).

ProduceGood has provided GelatoLove with 100 pounds of ruby grapefruit, which were harvested from Reed Ranch in Escondido. GelatoLove will use these grapefruits to create a never before made grapefruit gelato that will only be available at the event. The event is free and open to the public and a portion of all sales will go back to ProduceGood to help alleviate foodwaste and hunger.

At the event, guests will be able to sample and purchase the special grapefruit gelato as well as other flavors. There will be live music and a raffle with prizes from Patagonia, Callaway Golf and Kashi. 

August 8 – Ridge Vineyards Wine Dinner at THE MED at La Valencia

THE MED recently welcomed Executive Chef Timothy Ralphs to its team, making this wine dinner an exceptionally tasteful one. Start with a welcome wine and a chef’s amuse, and move on to a seated, multi-course meal that impresses the palate. The 5-course tasting menu is paired beautifully with select wines from Ridge Vineyards for an evening of show-stopping dishes and premium wines set to stunning ocean views. August 8 –Miss B’s Coconut Club Bra Donation

On Thursday, August 8th, join Miss B’s Coconut Club for a bra donation event benefitting the Interfaith Shelter Network and Project Homeless Connect.Stop by the Mission Beach bar and eatery between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. to donate new or gently used bras, which will be given to those in need. Everyone who brings in a bra to donate will enjoy a welcome shot, as well as drink specials like $8 Chi Chi’s and $7 Daiquiri’s. Sheraton Carlsbad Resort associates will be serving up root beer floats to guests in exchange for a donation to the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, Rady Children’s Hospital. Root beer floats will be available for $3 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the resort’s lobby and all proceeds will be donated to Rady Children’s Hospital. Additionally, Sheraton Carlsbad Resort will match donations dollar for dollar.

August 9 -Root Beer Float Fundraiser

In celebration of National Root Beer Float Day and Marriott International’s longstanding partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, The Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and Spa invites locals and guests to partake in a sweet fundraiser on Friday, August 9.

August 10-11 – ArtWalk @ Liberty Station

The community is invited to the 14th annualArtWalk @ Liberty Station, the summer’s fine arts festival taking place at Ingram Plaza on Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11. Come experience fine art, music and interactive art projects at the free event all weekend long. ArtWalk @ Liberty Station will celebrate 14 years of “Connecting Creative Communities” and will feature artwork from local, national and international artists. Every medium of art will be on display including painting, sculpture, glasswork, fine jewelry, photography and more. In addition to the works of art, San Diego locals and visitors can expect live music; KidsWalk, an interactive art area for families; street food options and a wine and beer pavilion! Each year the event supports ArtReach, a nonprofit that delivers high-quality art education to K-8 schools throughout San Diego.

August 11 -Corks & Canvas

The 5th annual “Corks & Canvas” is held every year by the Cohn Restaurant Group. Guests have the opportunity to meet and greet CRG’s talented in-house artists while tasting wine pairings inspired by their artwork. Tickets are $35 (or $40 at the door) and include tray-passed apps, wine and access to purchase one-of-a-kind works of art. August 15 – A Taste of Italy at Giardino
Take your tastebuds on a culinary journey through Italy with five fantastic Italian wines paired with five original courses from Giardino. Led by Italian Wine Specialist, Roberto Andres Avila, the dinner will begin with a welcome glass of Spumante Brut Rosè and an Italian Cheese spread. Once seated, guests will move on to a Verdicchio Classico Superiore paired with Halibut Carpaccio. A Truffle Risotto compliments a Sassotondo Tufo Rosso, while a bold Montefalco Rosso pairs with a perfectly prepared Rack of Lamb. End on a sweet note with Cheeseberry Cake and bubbly. August 15 – Silent Disco at ginger’s

ginger’s, in the Gaslamp District, is hosting a Silent Disco on Thursday, August 15th! During the Silent Disco, which takes place from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., ginger’s will be featuring food specials from barleymash, located just upstairs, along with Jagermeister cocktail specials.

August 15 -Carruth Cellars’s Corks for a Cause

Cheers for charity on Thursday, August 15th! Carruth Cellars is partnering with local non-profit Serving Seniors and will be donating 20% of proceeds from 6pm-9pm at their urban winery & tasting room in Solana Beach.

August 17 – Ferragosto

Little Italy’s Ferragosto returns for its final year with this year’s theme “Pirates Invade Sicily,” on Saturday, August 17 from 6:00 p.m. to midnight, with a VIP reception starting at 5:00 p.m. Come enjoy the festivities and experience dancing, a casino with fun games, two live bands, amazing food from 18 of Little Italy’s favorite restaurants—including hors d’oeuvres, main dishes, drinks, cocktails and desserts, and a shipload of fun with multiple immersive surprises! Ferragosto also features a live auction, a cigar bar and raffle prizes like a trip to Italy, a cash jackpot and more. Attendees can celebrate this year’s pirate theme dressed in costume or come as they are – in cocktail or summer attire. The largest themed Italian-American gala in the country benefits historical preservation, youth programs and school scholarships. August 17 – Wine on the Lanai at Vintana wine + dine
Visit Vintana wine + dine on Saturday, August 17th from 1 – 4 p.m. for a Wine on the Lanai Tasting event featuring favorite reds and whites from California wineries and delicious Vintana appetizers. Guests can participate in a blind tasting challenge, a wine blending event and grape crushing. Indulge in signature Vintana bites such as veggie spring rolls, ahi poke tacos and mini key lime pies while sampling wines from labels including J Lohr and JUSTIN. August 18 -Vegan Cheese and Wine Pairing at Barrel Republic

Discover the magic of vegan cheese and wine at Barrel Republic in Carlsbad. The special vegan cheese and wine pairing workshop will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 18. Tickets cost $30 and include a special sampling of several vegan cheeses (made from nuts and coconut) and a delicious arrangement of locally sourced plant-based ingredients used in creating a cheeseboard, which you will learn more about.  Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.

August 20 -Mendocino Farms x Berry Good Food Giveback Night

Support San Diego’s local food economy AND enjoy a healthy meal at Mendocino Farms in Carlsbad! The win/win we’ve been dreaming of! August 20 -Vegepalooza

Veggie lovers unite! The Patio on Lamont is hosting the freshest event of the summer – the annual Vegepalooza happening on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. Dine at The Patio on Lamont and experience a specially curated four-course meal featuring the best locally sourced and sustainable vegetarian cuisine, each paired with a glass of wine or a signature cocktail. The ticketed event will elevate your taste buds with plates listed below that are nutritious and most importantly delicious!

Guests will start the evening with a pickled salad consisting of charred and fresh mango, baby carrots, golden raisins, bell peppers, cilantro and citrus – paired with the Lealtanza 2017 Sauvignon Blanc Rioja, Spain.The second course features seasonal fresh lumpia with sweet garlic shoyu and toasted hazelnuts – paired with a 2015 Ribeiro, Vina Costeira, “First One”, Spain. The main course is an eggplant Kare-Kare dish with Chinese long beans, banana flower, baby bok choy, crushed peanuts and forbidden rice – paired with a 2016 Pinot Noir, Voix De La Vigne from Willamette Valley. End the evening on a sweet note with a Halo-Halo shaved ice dessert. The tasty treat has ube ice cream, coconut milk, jackfruit and jellies and will be served with a Tigerlily cocktail.

The Patio on Lamont’s Vegepalooza will kick off with a welcome cocktail at 6 p.m. and the seated dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $72 and can be purchased here.

August 22 – Celebrity Chef Series

Herb & Wood’s next guest chef in their ongoing Celebrity Chef Series will be renowned chef Beau MacMillian. The native New Englander, who is the executive chef for Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort, is known best for defeating Bobby Flay on Iron Chef America and serving as a coach on season one of Worst Cooks in America. The next installment of the series will take place on Thursday, August 22, from 6:00-9:00pm, and will focus on game meats, featuring dishes like a Beef Cheek & Marrow Bao Bun with Kimchi Pickles and Smoked Oyster Remoulade and Korean BBQ braised “Volcano” Shank with Green Onion Grits, Shiitake Mushroom, and Fermented Garlic and Chive Butter

A portion of the proceeds from the five course dinner will benefit MacMillian’s charity of choice, C-CAP (the Careers Through Culinary Arts Program,) which through education and training, prepares underserved youth for careers in the professional world of culinary and hospitality. Limited tickets for the intimate dinner will be available via Eventbrite, and will cost $150. The evening will also include an auction element. 

August 22 -Allagash Brewing Company/Barrel Republic Tap Takeover

Stop in Barrel Republic in Oceanside starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 22nd to experience an impressive lineup of seven Allagash beers, including the limited release favorites such as the tart and refreshing Darling Ruby, a farmhouse ale with grapefruit juice and zest. August 23 – National Cuban Sandwich Day

For National Cuban Sandwich Day on Friday, Aug. 23, Havana 1920 will highlight its Cubano, made with slow-roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, mustard and authentic Cuban bread; and will also offer its Breakfast Cubano, made with scrambled eggs, slow-roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, mustard and authentic Cuban bread; paired with a cafecito for only $7. With the purchase of every Cubano, Havana 1920 will donate a portion of the proceeds to San Diego for Puerto Rico (SD4PR), a local grass roots organization that provides direct assistance to families in Puerto Rico affected by Hurricane Maria.

August 24 – Princess Tea Party

Dreams will come true at The Westgate Hotel on Saturday, August 24, as they host another magical Princess Tea Party. Little ones will have the opportunity to sip tea like a royal with their favorite princesses complete with songs, a princess oath, and a special photo opportunity.

Meanwhile, the Westgate’s renowned afternoon tea will be served, complete with signature house-made pastries, desserts, premium teas, and delicious kid-friendly beverages.

The Princess Tea Party will take place on Saturday, August 24, from 2:30 pm – 5 pm in the Versailles Ballroom. August 24 – Pasta making class at cucina SORELLA
cucina SORELLA will host a pasta making class with Executive Chef Tim on Saturday, August 24th from 12 -2 p.m. Chef Tim will lead the hands-on class experience demonstrating how to make beautiful laminated dough and stuffed pasta. Tickets are $70 per person and includes a glass of wine, lunch and your freshly created pasta to take home. Tickets can be purchased online here. The theme for the Saturday, September 21st class and subsequent fall classes will be announced soon. 

August 27 -Barrel Republic in Oceanside

Experience the best of Balcones on August 27 during a guided tasting at  The Whiskey House.  Starting at 7 p.m. enjoy a great lineup of Balcones whiskeys, with every sip guided by the distillery’s ambassador. Tickets for the tasting are $35 and include a welcome cocktail, five taster and light bites. Due to popular demand and limited availability, tickets must be purchased online prior to the event. August 28 – Stay Coastal, and Drink Local

Stay Coastal, and Drink Local this summer! Stephen George, beverage director at the Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa, has curated a collaboration series showcasing local distilleries and the stories behind their spirits to celebrate the launch of the resort’s new Locals Only cocktail menu. 

The lineup features Henebery Spirits on August 28. The recently launched, seasonally sourced Locals Only cocktail menu highlights the best of San Diego in every sip, showcasing seasonal citrus and other produce, as well as San Diego distilled spirits and local vinegar. The Locals Only selection features five cocktails, all of which are homegrown here in San Diego.

Each Stay Coastal, Drink Local event will run from 6 pm to 8 pm and includes a flight of spirit tasters from the partner distillery, light appetizers from 20|Twenty, and one Locals Only cocktail of choice. Tickets are $25 per person, including tax and gratuity, and will only be available for purchase at the door. Additional cocktails will be available for purchase for $10 each.

August 30 – Cutwater Spirits Dinner at Vintana wine + dine
Vintana wine + dine will host a Cutwater Spirits Dinner from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, August 30th. Enjoy a delicious 4-course menu including duck confit gnocchi and bacon-wrapped filet paired perfectly with Cutwater Spirits cocktails such as a cucumber cooler and a Three Sheets rum watermelon mojito. Finish off the meal with a delicious smoke vanilla bon bon paired with a horchata vodka and espresso martini. Dinner is $59.95 per person and includes four cocktails. August 30 -Louisiana Purchase’s NOLA Burlesque Show

Louisiana Purchase is spicing things up on Labor Day Weekend by hosting a Burlesque Show Friday, August 30th, and you won’t want to miss it! The lights get low, the curtains draw close and talented ladies come out to entertain the crowd. A little bit sultry and a little bit sweet, mix things up with a moody evening filled with burlesque, booze and all that the Bayou Club has to offer.

Louisiana Purchase will kick off burlesque night with their Bayou Club Happy Hour, that features specialty priced drinks, at 9:00 p.m. The two burlesque shows are at 9:45 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. and space is limited, so reserve your spot by visiting OpenTable. Come early and grab dinner before the show!

August 31 – Rooftop Pool Party

End summer on a high note by joining JSix on Saturday, August 31 for a Frankie Avalon-themed Labor Day pool party. The rooftop event will feature live music from “Surf’s Up,” a Beach Boy’s Cover Band, tiki-inspired cocktails, all-you-can eat BBQ classics and coastal cuisine from 4-8 p.m. Tickets to the event can be purchased HERE ($38).
