It’s time to shuck, slurp and find your finest pearls — National Oyster Day is just around the corner on Sunday, August 5th! Whether your preference is on the half-shell, raw or fried, here are a few of the best places in San Diego to enjoy oysters.

STAKE CHOPHOUSE + BAR — This swanky modern steak and seafood hot spot introduces a cultivated selection of fresh East and West Coast oysters to its Coronado rooftop dining space. Slurp $1.25 oysters all night long and enjoy Veuve Clicquot by the glass for $12. Additional oyster spotlights from the menu also include Oyster Shooters and Woodfired Oysters Rockefeller.

BLUE POINT COASTAL CUISINE — The Gaslamp District’s Blue Point Coastal Cuisine is hosting an oyster and wine pairing event on Sunday, August 5th. For $30 enjoy 6 pairings of the best oyster dishes and wines from 1:00-3:00 pm, or nosh on $1 oysters beginning at 5:00 pm till close. Call the restaurant to make your reservation for an unforgettable National Oyster Day experience.

THE DUCK DIVE — Located steps from the sand in sunny Pacific Beach, The Duck Dive’s menu is compiled of classic American dishes as well as coastal favorites. Happy Hour at this beach bar is Monday through Friday, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., where you can enjoy half-off all snacks, like the Oysters Rockefeller – a classic dish with a twist! Broiled oysters are topped with chopped shrimp, spinach, chipotle, pepperjack cheese and bread crumbs, and can be ordered by the half-dozen for $9 or dozen for $12.50 – what a deal!

FISHBONE KITCHEN — Join in the mollusk madness with $1.50 oysters at Liberty Public Market’s Fishbone Kitchen. Stop by the 12-seat raw bar on August 5th to enjoy raw oysters alongside a selection of sustainable seafood choices such as fish, ceviche, poke and fresh, spiky sea urchin.

BEERFISH — If after National Oyster Day on Sunday, August 5th you still have a craving for the salty sea creatures, visit Beerfish. With a focus on sustainable seafood and craft beer, Beerfish shucks up $1 raw oysters every Monday (until supplies last) along with $4 IPAs. This tasty twosome draws the crowds, making the casual North Park eatery one of the neighborhood’s favorite Monday evening hangouts.

MISS B’S COCONUT CLUB — Experience a taste of the islands at Miss B’s Coconut Club, a Caribbean-inspired bar and eatery in Mission Beach that hosts $1 Oyster Night every Friday night. Beginning at 5:00 p.m., slurp oysters served with chimichurri, house cocktail sauce, horseradish and fresh lemon while enjoying an iconic San Diego sunset. And to help wash down those slippery shellfish, sip on $5 glasses of Chloe Rosé, a crisp and fruity flavored Pinot Noir, available all-day on Fridays!

FISH SHOP — Looking for a shuckin’ good deal on oysters?! Look no further than Fish Shop’s Pacific BeachPoint LomaEncinitas and Hermosa Beach locations, which all take pride in serving the freshest fish in the neighborhood. A shuckin’ good time is promised to everyone at Osetra’s Happy Hour, featuring Oysters On The ½ Shell for only $1 each or a specially-priced deal of 10 oysters & a bottle of select wine, available from 4:00 PM – close all summer long!

GREYSTONE PRIME STEAKHOUSE & SEAFOOD — If you are a lover of briny bivalve mollusks, glorify these sea-plucked delicacies at Greystone Prime Steakhouse & Seafood. Sip from the award-winning wine list and selection of seasonal specialty craft cocktails before slurping up a shareable order of the Oysters Rockefeller, served with sautéed spinach, applewood bacon, pecorino cheese and dill sauce, of the daily Happy Hour special of $1.50 oysters and more from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM!

CLOAK & PETAL — If a Japanese twist on oysters sounds more up your palate alley, head to Little Italy’s Cloak & Petal this National Oyster Day. Known for slinging innovative Japanese small plates and a slew of sushi items, this trendy eatery offers Oysters on the Half-Shell served with radish, ponzu and scallions, bringing a kick of flavorsome Japanese zests to the mix. Paired with the eatery’s eye-catching décor, including two true-to-size faux cherry blossom trees that canopy the bar, this dining destination brims with style and flair.

THE OCEANAIRE SEAFOOD ROOM — With a commitment to serving only freshest and finest seafood, The Oceanaire Seafood Room is the perfect setting to enjoy seafood flown in daily from around the world. For National Oyster Day, they’ll be celebrating with $1 chef-selected oysters available from open to close all weekend on August 4 and 5.

HELLO BETTY FISH HOUSE — Oceanside’s quintessential oceanfront fish house, Hello Betty offers a few key oyster options perfect for celebrating National Oyster Day. Stick with the classic Baja Oysters on the Half Shell served with cocktail sauce & jalapeno mignonette or indulge with two boozy variations of oyster shooters – the Cuervo Oyster Shooter with bloody mary pico, scallions, and tequila or the classic Oyster Shooter accompanied with spicy bloody mary mix and cocktail sauce. On August 5, guests can enjoy happy hour pricing on all oyster shooters – $3 for the classic and $4.25 for the Cuervo.

For $10, guests can indulge in the restaurant’s signature Bloody Mare complete with gin mare, Cutwater bloody mary mix, an oyster on the half shell finished with a bacon rim.

WHISKNLADLE — La Jolla’s go-to neighborhood bistro for farm-fresh, served-from-scratch fare will be offering $1 oysters and $5 glasses of Cava all day on National Oyster Day.
