Restaurant Week Spotlight: Ruth’s Chris

By January 23, 2018 No Comments

San Diego Restaurant Week is a chance to dine indulgently with multi-course meals at some of the city’s best restaurants for a flat price. Ruth’s Chris is a great example of a decadent restaurant where you can get a 3 course meal for only $50 during Restaurant Week. The juicy steaks and homemade sides are only part of the appeal — sinking into a plush booth with a view of the sun setting over the harbor and enjoying the top notch service will make any night feel like a special occasion. To start your evening, try their phenomenal Old Fashion. The Gambler’s Old Fashioned is rumored to be Ruth’s favorite cocktail, combining Knob Creek Bourbon, house made demerara syrup, and Bitter Truth Aromatic Bitters, finished with orange and lemon peels. For Restaurant Week, Ruth’s Chris is also offering a $21 wine pairing the serves up two glasses of wine to compliment your meal.

To start your Restaurant Week menu, try the mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat. Broiled mushroom caps are filled with jump lump crab and topped with Romano cheese. For a lighter appetizer, don’t miss the seared Ahi. Seared Ahi Tuna is complemented by ginger, mustard, and beer to create a bright and flavorful dish. Also available on the Restaurant Week menu are options of Acorn Squash Bisque Soup, Caesar salad, or Steak House Salad.

For the entree, you have a choice between three steaks for an addition $4. Choose the 8oz Filet, 6oz Filet with Shrimp, 12oz. Ribeye. Ruth’s Chris is known for their steak — custom-aged USDA Prime midwestern beef (the top 2% of beef on the market) broiled to lock in the flavor. Your choice of cut is seared to your liking and finished with butter, served sizzling on a 500-degree plate (that’s so it would stay warm through the very last bite).

And while you may not be able to imagine going to Ruth’s Chris and NOT ordering steak, the big surprise of the evening was the stuffed chicken breast entree. Free-range, double-breasted chicken is oven roasted and stuffed with garlic herb cheese, topped with lemon butter. With your entree, you get a choice of sides: roasted mushrooms with fresh thyme and garlic, spinach in a New Orleans style cream sauce, or mashed potatoes.

You will likely be full after two delicious courses, but make sure to save room for dessert! Their Chocolate Sin Cake is Ruth’s Chris take on a flourless chocolate cake, rich and decadent. Also try the cheesecake, served with chocolate bark and topped with fresh berries. For a lighter dessert, sorbet is also an option.
