National Beer Day is April 7!

According to the folks who decide these things, April 7, 1933, was the day in history when the sale of beer containing less than 3.2 percent alcohol became legal again. Famously, Franklin D. Roosevelt commented after signing the act, “I think this would be a good time for a beer.” Thanks to him, America’s Finest City has yet another excuse to crack open a cold one. If you also think this sounds like a good time for a beer, here are a couple of places offering the best deals on brews this holiday.

Bier Garden

This award-winning craft-beer hub is the perfect spot to celebrate the third most popular beverage in the world. Bier Garden offers 32 tap handles serving Southern California beers and a local bier-infused menu, so this place is a no-brainer for grabbing a cold pint and raising a glass. For National “Bier” Day, they will be celebrating by offering $2 off all beers on tap, all day long. And, if you decide that one day just isn’t enough to celebrate, join the Mug Club at Bier Garden. For only $30, you will get a 6-month membership which gives you 10% off all beers, a free beer on your birthday, and your own 20 oz mug with its own number that is kept up high above the bar, safely awaiting your return.

The Corner Drafthouse

The Corner Drafthouse wants to make it clear that every day is a good day to enjoy a beer. This popular neighborhood gastropub is located just a block from Balboa Park and offers 70 of the best local craft-beers on tap, alongside seasonal West Coast comfort food. For National Beer Day they will be offering $5 select beers all day long. And, if you’re up for the challenge, come back and try all 70 beers within 70 days. If you successfully complete this challenge, you’ll be one of the lucky ones who gets their name engraved on a plaque at the bar and you will receive a T-Shirt to show off your greatest accomplishment.

Beer is better with brunch and a view. 10 Barrel in East Village has you covered.
