July 3 – Barrel Republic Sierra Nevada Tasting

Barrel Republic in Carlsbad is coming together with Sierra Nevada Brewing Company for a very special event. For an exclusive taste of rare archived brews, head in at 4 p.m. Sierra Nevada will also have an expert on hand to talk you through the experience pour by pour and pass out some goodies. Anyone who gets into the holiday spirit by dressing up in your most patriotic attire or Sierra Nevada gear, will get to enjoy 10% of their bill.

July 3 -Tequila Fortaleza Dinner

The Patio on Goldfinch is hosting a four-course dinner featuring sips of Tequila Fortaleza on Wednesday, July 3 starting at 6 p.m. Chef Ambrose has created a special menu for the event expertly paired with various tequilas to complement the four courses sure to delight. July 11 – Caymus Vineyards Wine Dinner

At THE MED at La Valencia, start with a welcome wine and a chef’s amuse, and move on to a seated, multi-course meal that impresses the palate. The 5-course tasting menu is paired beautifully with select wines from Caymus Vineyards for an evening of show-stopping dishes and premium wines set to stunning ocean views, starting at 6pm. July 11 – Grape & Petal: Floral Design and Wine Class

Giardino Neighborhood Cucina is hosting a floral design class on July 11 starting at 630pm. Guests can gather at the Italian restaurant to create a beautiful arrangement while sipping on wine. They are partnering with La Mesa Floral Design Shoppe, who will supply everything needed for the hands-on class, including a reusable take-home base and arrangement. July 11 – Pride Party at the Patio

Party Proud in Mission Hills at The Patio on Goldfinch’s Pride Party on Thursday, July 11 starting at 6 p.m. Kick off your Pride weekend right with a hosted bar from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. courtesy of Cutwater Spirits and stay for the food and drink specials all evening.

July 12 – BBQ Wine Dinner at Vintana wine + dine

July 13 – Rainbow Yoga

Celebrate PRIDE weekend with a poolside CorePower Yoga Rainbow Flow on Saturday, July 13 featuring an LGBTQ-inspired playlist and stunning bay views. Guests are invited to dress in their rainbow best for the festive occasion with CorePower and lululemon. The 60-minute colorful class begins at 9 a.m. on Grand Hyatt San Diego’s 3rd floor rooftop pool deck and includes a complimentary day pass to both rooftop pools (valid for the day of the class).

July 13 – Over the Line Tournament

The 66th Annual World Championship Over-the-Line (OTL) Tournament will take place on July 13-14 and July 20-21 at Fiesta Island on Mission Bay. Over 1,000 teams will hit the sand at sunrise on Saturday morning, July 13, with their bats, balls and most creative team names to kick-off 66 years of San Diego tradition. The first three game days will start promptly each morning at 7:30 a.m. and continue until sunset, concluding on Sunday afternoon, July 21, with the Men’s Open Championship. New this year, “Glow-TL,” a glow in the dark golf event, will kick-off the annual championship on Friday, July 12 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m., as well as the inaugural OTL Beerfest happening on Saturday, July 20 featuring all of your favorite local breweries and distilleries.

July 13 – 5th Anniversary of Masters Kitchen

On Saturday, July 13, Masters Kitchen and Cocktail will be celebrating its fifth anniversary from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with food and drink specials, live music all day, a local art show with live sculpting, and a photo booth! The music lineup includes Whit and That’s Right from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Jeff Brinkman from 1 to 4 p.m., Shane Shipley from 4 to 7 p.m., and Shane Hall from 7 to 10 p.m. The theme will be “Knock on Wood” with wood-infused food and drink. Fifty percent of sales from food and drink specials and 100 percent of proceeds from the limited drawing on the day of the event will be donated to Semper Fi Fund, an Oceanside-based nonprofit that provides lifetime support for injured veterans and their families. Limited reservations will be available for large parties.

July 13 – PlantBasedPopUp Wine Pairing Dinner

July 13 – Mermaid Core and Spin Fitness Class

Kimpton Solamar Hotel will be holding its next rooftop Mermaid Core and Spin fitness classes on July 13 at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m, and will cost $25 per class. The new programming has been custom designed by Fit City Adventures’ elite coaches to offer a perfect mix of cardio and core body strength building, with stunning views of the downtown skyline and the famed Padres stadium as a backdrop.

July 14 – OUT in Little Italy

There’s a brand-new sanctioned San Diego PRIDE event that’s launching this year in Little Italy called—OUT in Little Italy: Pride Brunch, which will take place in Little Italy’s Piazza della Famiglia on Sunday, July 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The event is a bottomless mimosa brunch featuring food from participating eateries at the Little Italy Food Hall, including Ambrogio 15Mein St. Asian KitchenBobboi Natural GelatoNot Not TacosRoast and Wicked Maine Lobster; live drag performances; fresh PRIDE/House music and more! The heart of Little Italy will come alive with colorful rainbow décor and exciting festivities to take place during the mid-morning event, including DJ Jinx Mirage spinning tracks and drag performances by the winner of XTina Draguilera on Bravo TV’s Watch What Happens Live, Kickxy Vixen-Styles and Glitz Glam.

Tickets for OUT in Little Italy: Pride Brunch can be purchased online and are priced at $75. The ticket includes bottomless mimosas, food offerings, transportation from the Piazza della Famiglia to the San Diego PRIDE Festival in Balboa Park on Sunday and all entertainment. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the programs of San Diego PRIDE. 

July 14 – Bastille Day Menu at BO-beau kitchen + bar
Ocean Beach’s BO-beau kitchen + bar will host a special menu all day long in honor of Bastille Day on Sunday, July 14th. The five-course tasting menu includes a lobster mango salad, porcini mushroom ravioli, grilled swordfish filet and more for France’s National Day commemorating the storming of the Bastille and the beginning of the French Revolution. July 16 – Beast Feast at CUCINA urbana
CUCINA urbana is hosting the third iteration of the 2019 Beast Feast animal series on Tuesday, July 16th at 6:30 p.m. Beast Feast is CUCINA urbana’s family-style, themed menu series that highlights protein techniques and sourcing based on sustainability and seasonal cooking. Fishmonger Tommy Gomes of Catalina Offshore Products will be joining this intimate event, discussing tuna and sustainable fishing practices alongside Executive Chef Tim Kolanko. All month: Sunset Poolside Jazz Series

With spectacular views of the San Diego skyline at sunset, the Westgate Hotel’s rooftop will be home to the 6th Annual Sunset Poolside Jazz Series, featuring an incredible lineup of the best smooth jazz artists in Southern California. Trumpet virtuoso, composer, producer, and educator in the San Diego jazz community, Gilbert Castellanos directs this special event that will take place every Thursday evening. No reservations are required, and tables are first come, first serve. A $25 food and beverage minimum per person applies for each event, and parking is available for $10.

July 4th – Ian Buss Trio: An accomplished saxophonist, composer/arranger and music educator, Ian Buss and his trio will provide a night of dazzling jazz and showmanship.

July 11th – Matt Hall Quartet: It will be an evening of rich sounds and cool vibes with the Matt Hall Quartet, featuring Hall (trombone), Irving Flores (piano), Mackenzie Leighton (upright bass), and Charles Weller (drums).

July 25th – Steph Johnson Band: Award Winning, original soul-jazz vocalist, guitarist, and composer, Steph Johnson shares her soulful and unique voice, backed by her all-star band.

July 21 – Tahona’s Baja Mezcal Tour
On Saturday, July 21 Tahona invites guests to come along for its next Baja Mezcal Tour, a group daytrip highlighting several of Baja’s best spots. While south of the border, guests will sample dishes in one of Tijuana’s best culinary destinations, discover a secret park overlooking the ocean and end the day watching sunset at one of the best bars in the world. July 24 – Signatory tasting at The Whiskey House

If you are a scotch enthusiast, then you might already know that Signatory is considered one of the best and most famous independent scotch bottlers in the world. Experience the best of Signatory on July 24 during a guided tasting at San Diego’s premier whiskey bar and Guinness World Record holder, The Whiskey House

Starting at 7 p.m. enjoy a great lineup of Signatory whiskeys, with every sip guided by an ambassador. Tickets for the tasting are $40 and include a welcome cocktail, four Signatory Whisky tasters, light bites and a surprise bonus whisky. You will learn that every bottle has characteristics that resemble the unique flavor, color and age profile of a single cask.

July 25 – Culture & Cocktails

The San Diego Museum of Art’s popular Culture & Cocktails returns next month! The event takes place on Thursday, July 25th from 6-10 p.m. and will be themed Angels and Saints after the Museum’s exhibition, Art & Empire: The Golden Age of Spain, currently on view through 9/2/19. Art & Empire: The Golden Age of Spain features a diverse selection of more than 100 outstanding works produced by leading artists from Spain and its global territories. Artists featured include Diego Velázquez, Peter Paul Rubens, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, Francisco de Zurbarán, Jusepe de Ribera, El Greco, Juan de Valdés Leal, Juan Sánchez Cotán, and many more. This exhibition marks the first time since 1935 that all five of the Spanish masters represented on the Museum’s building façade—Velázquez, Murillo, Zurbarán, Ribera and El Greco—will be shown together at the Museum.

In addition to the exhibition, party goers can look forward to:

July 25 – Mezcal Meditation at Tahona
On Thursday, July 25 from 630 to 8 p.m., Old Town’s newest mezcal bar and tasting room Tahona will host a one hour-long meditation and mezcal tasting class taught by Tahona’s mezcal expert and a mindfulness teacher. This organoleptic experience will focus on the sense of taste, smell, touch and sight to immediately bring guests into the present momentas they explore a range of intentionally curated artisanal mezcals. Tahona will close the event with a contemplative meditation meant to give participants the time and space to think and ponder the traditional and centuries-old mezcal-making and tasting process. July 25 – Stay Coastal, and Drink Local

Stay Coastal, and Drink Local this summer! Stephen George, beverage director at the Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa, has curated a collaboration series showcasing local distilleries and the stories behind their spirits to celebrate the launch of the resort’s new Locals Only cocktail menu. 

The lineup features Cutwater Spirits on July 25.The recently launched, seasonally sourced Locals Only cocktail menu highlights the best of San Diego in every sip, showcasing seasonal citrus and other produce, as well as San Diego distilled spirits and local vinegar. The Locals Only selection features five cocktails, all of which are homegrown here in San Diego.

Each Stay Coastal, Drink Local event will run from 6 pm to 8 pm and includes a flight of spirit tasters from the partner distillery, light appetizers from 20|Twenty, and one Locals Only cocktail of choice. Tickets are $25 per person, including tax and gratuity, and will only be available for purchase at the door. Additional cocktails will be available for purchase for $10 each.

July 26 – Baja Winemaker Dinner at 333 Pacific

While socializing amongst a panel of Baja winemakers, savor contemporary Mexican cuisine like oyster “aguachile” and duck molé negro. The meal starts at 6pm and is complemented by a wine program that spotlights a selection from the Northern Baja region—often dubbed “Napa Valley of Mexico.” The event will showcase several bottles, such as the ruby red Armonía de Tintos from Emevé Wines and the Tempranilla from the family-owned Cavas Valmar winery. July 26 – Local Cider Takeover at Barrel Republic

We might live in the craft beer mecca of the United States, but cider is surely having its moment. Tap into the best of San Diego’s cider at Barrel Republic in Oceanside on Thursday,  July 25 at 6 p.m., for an exclusive tasting from Turquoise Barn Cider, Newtopia Cyder and Guthrie Ciderworks.

Named after the iconic colored barn turned cider house, Turquoise Barn Cider is a family owned company based out of Ramona, California. They will be featuring signature flavors such as Apple Blueberry, Apple Pomegranate and Apple Maple.

Crafted with the finest botanicals, Newtopia Cyder prides themselves on their intricate six step cider process to provide enticing and refined ciders for all. They will be featuring three of their globally inspired ciders, Chai Me a River, Apple Soiree and Belgian Pineapple. 

Inspired by the beauty of San Diego’s culture, Guthrie Ciderworks began crafting gluten free ciders with an emphasis on ciders that are low in sugar. Their motto “Because cider doesn’t need to be sweet” sets them apart in the cider industry. Ciders to be featured: Fruit Gold, Rubus Citrus and Cherry Zinga. 

July 27 – Cocktails & Comedy

Join Vintana wine + dine from 6-9pm for a night of humorous entertainment and lighthearted laughs! Enjoy pre-show craft cocktails and savory hors d’oeuvre, alongside a cheese + charcuterie assortment and selection of desserts. Then prepare to laugh out loud as local comics bring hilarity to the stage with acts that will win your amusement. July 27 – Pasta Making Class

Join Urban Kitchen Group’s Executive Chef Tim Kolanko at cucina SORELLA as he teaches guests how to make fresh pasta. July 28 – Namaste on the Bay

Partnering with the yogis from Corepower Yoga, Coasterra invites guests for a Sunday morning workout session with panoramic views of the bay. Taking place on the Harbor Float, the skilled instructors from Corepower will lead an all-level flow class from 10 – 11 a.m. Afterwards, attendees can rendezvous inside Coasterra for a well-deserved brunch with 15% off all food items! July 28 –Junior Chef Class

Searsucker Del Mar Highlands’ is hosting a Junior Chef: Pasta Making 101 class. Executive Chef Ryan Star is guiding aspiring young Chefs through pasta making basics on July 28th from 2-4PM. The afternoon will include instruction, hands-on making (and eating!) of cheesy ravioli and tortellini. Plus, all Juniors will get to take home a chef’s hat and recipe card for continued practice at home.No experience required. Recommended ages 8-12. July 30 -Sustainable Chef Collaboration Dinner

Chef Brandon Sloan of Pendry San Diego’s Provisional Kitchen and Chef Chris Gentile of Rancho Bernardo Inn’s AVANT will collaborate to host a summer sustainable ingredient dinner at Provisional Kitchen —offering a sustainable local bounty of land, ocean and sea.
The five-course dinner from the creative friend duo will offer locally caught seafood, California raised lamb, and locally foraged produce from Rancho Bernardo Inn’s Chef Garden as well as Chino Farms and Mikolich Farms. 
Highlight dishes include mole summer squash stuffed tortellini with Chino Farms corn consommé, squash blossoms and California almonds, and San Diego halibut with locally foraged Nasturtium butter, Rancho Bernardo Inn garden-grown tomatoes and eggplant.
