Holy Matcha Opens Second San Diego Cafe Location

San Diego’s original matcha cafe Holy Matcha has opened a second location in East Village at Park 12 — The Collection. The new location serves Holy Matcha’s core matcha-centric beverage menu and bites, plus neighborhood exclusives— including the ‘Holy Village’ mushroom latte. The East Village cafe pays homage to the inaugural location, offering an evolved, minimalist take on the original pink-inspired aesthetic that became an Instagram sensation.

“Holy Matcha is more than just a neighborhood cafe— it’s a brand,” said founder Geraldine Ridaura. “My intent has always been to represent San Diego by way of quality and design, to help put us on the map as a contender among other trend-setting cities.”

Holy Matcha specializes in high-quality matcha beverages, prepared to order by a team of expert ‘matcharistas.’ The cafe’s core matcha drink menu features customer-favorites, including the Holy Glow (Pearl Powder, Tocos, Ashwagandha, Matcha, Organic Bulgarian Rose Water) and iced Strawberry Matcha Latte (Homemade organic strawberry puree, Matcha, Almond or Coconut Milk), plus high-end loose leaf teas and local Superfood & Company kefir soda. Beverages exclusive to the East Village location include the ‘Holy Village’ Mushroom Latte (Reishi, Ashwagandha, He Shou Wu, Pine Pollen, Matcha, OrganicBulgarianRose) and MatchaBlessings (Lions Mane, Matcha, Tocos, Oat Milk).

Holy Matcha’s signature waffle bouquets, rotating dairy-free soft serve, savory avocado toast and locally sourced-green tea flavored bites are also served. In addition to matcha-based beverages, the new cafe exclusively offers a ‘dirty matcha latte,’ an energizing blend of iced matcha and cold brew coffee.

The cafe’s focal point is the custom-colored, traditionally-installed terrazzo which seamlessly envelops the entirety of the 820 square-foot space, including the bar and stadium-style seating. Another stand-out design detail is the watercolor-like Eskayel wallpaper custom-designed by Brooklyn-based textile designer Shanan Campanaro, a nod to the original location’s bold tropical wallpaper. Over the bar, lush plants sit atop a brass shelf adding a complementary pop of green. Other key design details include brass Schluter, custom-powder coated Holy Matcha pink steamer and hot water tap, custom brass menu board and a trademark ‘you, me, matcha’ neon sign.
