Eat & Drink Pink: Breast Cancer Awareness Month in San Diego

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and there are many ways to support the cause, from participating in walks to dining at restaurants who’ve vowed to donate to nonprofits and charities that supports awareness. Here are a few top San Diego spots featuring special menu items and deals you can experience all month long!

To support breast cancer awareness month, brunch spot Breakfast Republic will be offering PINK Raspberry Pancakes the entire month of October. For every order sold, the hip breakfast joint will donate $1 to Susan G. Komen San Diego. The irresistible combination of fluffy pancakes topped with fresh raspberries will have you wishing this special menu item was available all year long.

South Park’s Del Sur Mexican Cantina, a vibrant eatery serving authentic Mexican cuisine and lively cocktails, will feature a Pink Cadillac Margarita special to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The margarita will be made with Tequila Partida, a company that will be donating 25 percent of their October profits. For every Pink Cadillac sold Del Sur will also be donating $1, so there is no reason not to go order this tasty cocktail today!

If you love wine and fresh fish, make your way to any of Fish Shop’s four locations in October to support The Breast Cancer Charities of America.Pacific BeachPoint LomaEncinitas and even the Hermosa Beach location have partnered with the non-profit to donate $2 of every bottle of Chloe Wine sold over the next two-months. Each spot serves Chloe Pinot Grigio, a sweet white wine, a red Pinot Noir and Chloe Red Blend, with notes of dark fruit, rich espresso and spice, so you’ll be able to enjoy a glass no matter what your palate prefers.

Bub’s @ the Beach, which can be found along bustling Garnet Avenue, is known for serving iconic wings, loaded tater tot dishes and an inventive list of mules. For October, imbibe in the Spicy Pink Paloma, made with Ghost Tequila and grapefruit juice. The cocktail is available for $7, and $1 from every cup sold will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation!

Greystone, a stylish Gaslamp District steakhouse and seafood spot, will be turning the restaurant pink for October. Throughout the month, the usually white walls of this classy establishment, voted one of the top five steakhouses in California, will be lit up pink in honor of breast cancer awareness. Greystone will also be offering a pink Greystone Martini, consisting of pear vodka, elderflower liqueur, pomegranate, fresh lime juice and prosecco. $5 from each cocktail will be donated directly to the American Cancer Society.

On Tuesday, October 9thMiss B’s Coconut Club will be hosting a Paint the Night Pink! event, where participants will be creating a pink-themed palm tree scene. The cost of the event is $30, and $5 from every ticket sold will be given to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The purchase of a ticket (sold here) will get you all the necessary art supplies for the evening including brushes, paint, canvas and an apron. There will also be drink specials and $5 glasses of wine available throughout the event, which lasts from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

If you can’t make it to that paint night or live in North County, Park 101 will be hosting their Paint the Night Pink! on Monday, October 22nd. Tickets are also $30 and can be purchased by clicking here. In addition to Park 101’s $5 Tecate and Rosé specials offered, painters can also buy a bottle of Chloe Wine, who is donating $2 from every bottle sold. Come out for a fun evening to support a great cause!

With fall comes the latest special menu from Black Angus Steakhouse. In addition to a spectacular steak offering, the restaurant company is encouraging diners to drink pink in October.  During the month of October, $1 from the purchase of Pomegranate Punch will go to The Breast Cancer Charities of America. The special beverage is crafted with Bacardi Limon, Grand Marnier, pomegranate and fresh orange garnished with sugared rosemary and pomegranate seeds.

Dine out for a cure all month long with Blue Point Coastal Cuisine’s Chef Charity Dinner Series to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Through the month of October, indulge in a five-course dinner (offered every day) featuring land and sea classics such as Lobster Bisque, Mushroom Ravioli, Seared Lamb & Shrimp, and more. The cost for dinner is $75 per person with an optional $20 wine pairing add-on. Blue Point will then donate 20% of all dinner proceeds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Reservations are not required but encouraged.
