“Drinksgiving” Deals Around San Diego

Drinksgiving (the night before Thanksgiving) rivals St. Patrick’s Day and New Year’s Eve as one of the biggest drinking holidays of the year, and many restaurants and bars roll out deals on drinks to celebrate. Here are some top picks!

Monkey King will celebrate a “Drinksgiving” fit for a king with $5 Monkey Mai Tai cocktails and buy one pineapple or punchbowl cocktail, get one half-priced from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21. Created by beverage director Ryan Andrews, Monkey King’s signature Monkey Mai Tai is made with Bacardi rum, Añejo Cuatro, toasted cashew orgeat, lime, dry curaҫao and R&D house bitters. The restaurant’s shareable-sized portions, a 27-oz. stainless steel pineapple serving four for $48; and an 88-oz. ceramic conch shell serving 8 for $80, will be available for buy one, get one half-off throughout the night. Among the supersized cocktails available are the Singapore Sling, with Azuñia Blanco tequila, lime, Benedictine, pineapple, cherry and R&D house bitters; Lao-Lao Mule, with Old Forester bourbon, ginger, lime, mint, tamarind and R&D aromatic #7 bitters; Rikky Tikki Tavi with Ketel One, Thai basil, lemongrass and lime; and more.

Get hoppy this Thanksgiving Eve at Pacific Beach AleHouse during their Gobble ‘Til You Wobble party, featuring a DJ spinning from 10 p.m. – close, and $4 U-Call-Its if you bring in a canned good to donate to a local food bank from 9 p.m. – close.

Prohibition, the Gaslamp Quarter’s 1920s-era underground speakeasy will celebrate “Drinksgiving” the good old-fashioned way, with $5 Old Fashioned cocktails and live music from 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22.
Prohibition’s signature Old Fashioned cocktail is made with rye whiskey, house-made demerara sugar, R&D Bitters Aromatic #7 and R&D Bitters Cherry Apple. Local musicians, Lafayette Blues Band, will also kick off the holiday weekend with live performances throughout the evening.

Celebrate at Union Kitchen & Tap during their Industry Friendsgiving Karaoke Party, featuring ½-off all cocktails, plus karaoke from 10 p.m. – close!

El Chingon will throw a fiesta the night before the Thanksgiving feast with specially-priced house margaritas from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21. The “Bad Ass Mexican” restaurant and bar will offer its house margarita, made with Jose Cuervo tradicional tequila, lime juice and Cointreau, for $5 each throughout the entire day.

Enjoy a cocktail for a good cause this holiday season at The Duck Dive, PB’s premier PB lounge and eatery. The beach bar, which is located just steps from the sand, is having a canned food drive that lasts through Thanksgiving Day. Bring in a canned food item to be donated to the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, and receive a hosted Irish Coffee made with Jameson Whiskey, hot coffee and fresh cream float, all sprinkled with ground nutmeg.

Havana 1920 will host a Cuban-themed “Drinksgiving” celebración featuring Don Q Daiquiris all day and a late-night Cubano sandwich and daiquiri combination special on Wednesday, Nov. 21. Havana 1920 will offer Don Q Daiquiris priced at $5 from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. for the holiday. The popular cocktail is made with Don Q rum, fresh lime juice and fresh sugar cane juice, and is typically priced at $12. From 10 to 11 p.m., diners may enjoy a daiquiri and Cubano sandwich combination for $12. Havana 1920’s award-winning Cubano sandwiches are made with slices of slow-roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard on Cuban bread, typically priced at $16.

Stop by Backyard Kitchen & Tap in Pacific Beach this Thanksgiving Eve for their pre-Thanksgiving Pajama Party, complete with $5 shot specials, the chance to win $100 for rocking the best pajamas, and a DJ spinning from 10:30 p.m. – close!
