Watermelons are back in season! We’re seeing cocktails made with the juicy fruit popping up on menus all around San Diego. Check out a few of our fave watermelon cocktails that will make June Gloom disappear for an hour or two!

Pacific Beach’s newest place to be seen, Mavericks Beach Club, is offering up some tasty, tropical beverages, like the Watermelon Mule. Made with Skyy Watermelon Vodka, fresh lime juice and ginger beer, it’s refreshing and a delicious summer cocktail. Mavericks also has plenty of entertainment all summer long, including block parties, live bands and much more!

If you love the taste of watermelon but also prefer a little kick to your cocktail, you’ll want to taste The Duck Dive’s Take Me to Mexico. Los Altos Plata Tequila, which has been infused with fresh watermelon, is combined with basil and jalapeño, and shaken with agave, lemon and fresh watermelon to create this spicy little number.

Farmer’s Table is La Mesa’s farm-to-fork destination where locally sourced organic ingredients are brought together to be savored in an inviting atmosphere. Appearing on the menu are a handful of fruity and refreshing cocktails, like the Watermelon Patch. This vibrant beverage, served with a sugar rim, is made of Blue Ice Vodka, cold pressed watermelon, mint and a squeeze of lemon.

South Park’s go-to spot for authentic Mexican cuisine and an array of flavorful beverages is Del Sur Mexican Cantina! Although all of the margaritas are delicious, the Watermelon Basil Martini is perfect for summer. 1800 Reposado, watermelon juice, lime and basil syrup are shaken and stirred to create the perfect balance of sweet and refreshing.

Located right along the well-known corner of Garnet and Mission Boulevard, Backyard Kitchen & Tap thrives with coastal energy. Sip on beer, wine or craft cocktails with house-made infusions such as the Cucumber Cooler made with Ketel One, Cucumber & Watermelon Extract, Elderflower Liqueur and a Watermelon Cube. Enjoy on the patio, equipped with communal-style booths and a toasty fire pit for chilly evenings.
