Where to Dine on Christmas & Christmas Eve in San Diego

From ocean views on the coast, to east county gems, San Diego’s top restaurants are serving up something special on Christmas Eve and Day. Leaving the cooking (and the cleanup) to the pros on Christmas and enjoy good food with family and friends. 
Addison
Chef William Bradley’s Addison will offer a festive eight-course tasting menu with amuse for Christmas Eve service. The luxurious experience includes chawanmushi with peekytoe crab, ginger and wake, an interpretation of a PB&J sandwich, along with turbot au beurre sel with osetra caviar, celery root agnolotti and colette de boeuf with potato dauphin and sauce borscht. Supplemental wine pairings ($225 per person) from wine & beverage director Rafael Sanchez will be available.

Vivace
For a luxurious Christmas Eve and Day dinner, VivacePark Hyatt Aviara Resort’s AAA Four-Diamond Italian restaurant, is celebrating the holidays in style with a four-course Holiday Tasting Menu on December 24th and 25th from 5-9:30pm. These will be evenings filled with elevated Italian cuisine, including daily house-made pasta, award winning wine selections, and splendid sunset views overlooking the lush greenery of the nearby Batiquitos Lagoon. Primavera Ristorante
Primavera Ristorante, located in the heart of Coronado, will celebrate Christmas Eve with a decadent prix fixe Italian feast and specialty cocktail, available exclusively on Monday, Dec. 24. The three-course Christmas Eve menu, priced at $75 per person, includes dishes such as Maine lobster and Dungeness crab bisque; salmon bruschetta; basso mare bianco, pan-seared white sea bass with little neck clams and light tomato-fennel broth; cioppino with shrimp, mussels, calamari, clams, white fish and wild thyme; osso buco, slowly-braised lamb osso buco served with root vegetables, white wine broth and risotto; pumpkin-vanilla crème brulee; formaggio di tiramisu and more. The Berry Merry Christmas, created exclusively for the holiday, is made with Ketel One vodka, Chambord and limoncello and priced at $14.

Backyard Kitchen & Tap
Head to Backyard Kitchen & Tap in Pacific Beach on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day for their Prime Rib Special, priced at $31.99 and accompanied by horseradish crème fraiche, potato fondants, jumbo asparagus and prepared with a port wine demi-glaze, in addition to Backyard’s full menu, all of which will be available on Christmas Eve from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., and on Christmas day from 11:30 a.m. – close.

Waterbar
Pacific Beach’s ocean-front dining destination, Waterbar, will celebrate the holiday with special menus curated for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, touting specials such as their Christmas Roast, prepared with horseradish cream, homemade gravy, herb-roasted marble potatoes and glazed carrots, and a crescent roll served with cultured butter, Glazed Yams, steamed and glazed in brown sugar, and their vegetarian option, Everything But the Turkey Bowl, packed with chipotle black beans, roasted broccoli, roasted corn, cheddar mashed potatoes, mushroom gravy, cranberry sauce and a crescent roll. Finish on a sweet note on Christmas Eve with their Yule Log, prepared with rich chocolate cake, vanilla cream cheese frosting, toasted meringue, crushed peppermints, chocolate glaze, Nutella snow and hazelnut ice cream. Specials will be available on Christmas Eve from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., and on Christmas Day from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Cusp Dining & Drinks
Chef Ingrid Funes has prepared a three-course menu at Cusp, available on Christmas Day from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. The meal starts with a selection of starters like Burrata & Serrano Ham and Potato Leek Soup. Comfort favorites follow, with entrees such as Pan Roasted Filet Mignon and Duo of Duck: half roasted duck breast and duck raviolo. Seasonal desserts round-out the meal, including White Chocolate Bread Pudding. Dinner is $65 per adult and $35 for kids. Cusp is also open for dinner and drinks on Christmas Eve. Pacifica Del Mar
A special prix fixe menu by Chef Chris Idso includes dishes worth gathering for. Start off with chef’s Pear Endive Salad, Butternut Squash Soup with spiced apple crème fraiche. Move on to entrees like Free Range Turkey, Slow Cooked Angus Prime Rib, or Seared Atlantic Sea Scallops. Finish with a dessert, including Idso’s Chocolate-Pecan Tartlet or Blackberry Sorbet. THE MED at La Valencia
Gather at THE MED and indulge in three delightful holiday courses garnished with ocean vistas, seasonal music and sweet treats. The menu consists of dishes such as Local Spiny Lobster Bisque, Lamb Sugo Pappardelle, Pumpkin + Truffle Risotto and Cranberry Cheesecake. The menu is available both Christmas Eve & Christmas Day at THE MED. Cost is $95 per person with wine pairing for an additional $45 | $49 for children 12 and under. The Westgate
Gather with friends and family to indulge in The Westgate’s Christmas Day Holiday in the beautiful Le Fontainebleau Room from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The price is $89 for adults, $40 for children ages 4-12, and complimentary for children 3 and under, tax and gratuity not included. Guests may purchase bottomless house wine and champagne for an additional $20.

JRDN at Tower23
Celebrate the holidays at JRDN right on the boardwalk in Pacific Beach. Enjoy a Christmas Eve Dinner prepared by Executive Chef Dave Warner. In addition to all of the JRDN staple dishes, Chef Dave will be offering a Christmas inspired Prime Rib dinner special on Monday, December 24. Or, on December 25, enjoy a three-course holiday inspired Christmas dinner prepared with all of your holiday favorites. Monello
‘Tis the season of eating. There’s no better way to celebrate than with a Christmas Eve dinner at Monello in Little Italy. Known for their cheese wheel pasta, Monello will be serving up both a pasta and risotto for their holiday specials. The Christmas Eve specials will be a Cheese Wheel Spaghetti with Pesto and Guanicale and a Cheese Wheel Risotto with Spinach and Bone Marrow. Reservations are recommended. Monello will be closed on Christmas Day.

Osetra
When you’re dreaming of tasty Christmas favorites, Osetra Seafood & Steak’s Christmas Dinner menu is the perfect fit for you and your family to enjoy your time together without getting messy in the kitchen. Osetra has crafted a full three-course menu for $54 per person or a four-course menu for $69 per person with entrees including the Chilean Sea Bass, Lobster Ravioli, New York Strip, Cioppino, and Surf & Turf, a filet with three jumbo shrimp in a truffle bordelaise sauce. Sink your fork into a full three-course special menu including an app, entrée and dessert per person with selections such as a rich burrata jar, surf & turf lobster with a petit filet, crispy halibut, pan-seared scallops, duck in transition and more, finished off with your choice of buddino, limoncello cake or chocolate mousse.

Bleu Boheme
Created by owner and executive chef, Ken Irvine, Bleu Bohème will celebrate Christmas Eve with a specialty three-course menu and specialty cocktail available exclusively on Monday, Dec. 24 from 4-8 pm. The three-course prix fixe Christmas dinner, priced at $65 per person, includes dishes such as soupe de courge d’hiver, butternut squash soup, spiced croutons, sautéed kale and chive crème fraiche; saumon Béarnaise, pan seared king salmon filet with herb roasted potatoes, spinach with bacon lardons, balsamic tomatoes and Bearnaise sauce; boef Roquefort, braised beef cheek with a blue cheese and red wine sauce, crispy parsnips, roasted garlic mashed potatoes and haricots verts; and brioche au Canneberge with cranberry brioche bread pudding, toasted almonds, white chocolate and orange-spiced crème Anglaise and more. The Canneberge cocktail, created exclusively for the holiday, is a cranberry gimlet made with Freeland Spirit gin, cranberry juice, lime, simple syrup and cranberry bitters, priced at $12.
