Celebrate Tajima’s 18th Anniversary

By October 12, 2018 No Comments

Tajima, San Diego’s go-to spot for authentic Japanese cuisine and ramen, is celebrating their 18th Anniversary on October 18th and will be bringing back a popular menu item at the Convoy location to help get the party started.

The Wagyu Hamburg, served with white or brown rice, spring mix salad, tomatoes, green onions, oroshi radish and miso soup, will be accompanied by your choice of salted or garlic edamame and a Sapporo Beer (or fountain soda) for only $18. Or, try their ramen, considered to be the best in San Diego. Their original Tonkotsu (pork) broth takes them 12 hours to cook and results in a rich & creamy broth. They keep any other info about their special ramen a kitchen secret. My favorite is always the Spicy Sesame Ramen – spicy tonkotsu soup base mixed with special sesame paste, ground pork, bean sprouts, fried garlic chips, ½ ramen egg, baby bok choy, green onions, and Japanese seaweed.

Tajima Founder Isamu Morikizono shared what has made Tajima so successful over the past 18 years. “We’re always looking for ways we can improve and listening to feedback from our guests. We’ve learned so much since day one. Our spaces have changed to offer guests a better atmosphere and we have shifted focus to feature more ramen. We used to have a larger Japanese menu but found ramen is our main niche and people love it.” The Convoy Street location has especially seen the area change over the past 18 years. “There was a very small Asian community 18 years ago around Kearny Mesa and Convoy. Now it has increased tenfold, which is a wonderful thing. Now there are several spots to find amazing Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean and Chinese cuisines. Tajima has won the hearts of locals and visitors for 18 years and we hope to continue to do so.”
