This year Mom duty looked a bit different with remote learning, work from home, and the stress of a global pandemic. The little time moms had for themselves was reduced to nothing, so this Mother’s Day, moms deserve to relax and unwind. We’ve put together a list of some of the best Mother’s Day offerings in San Diego to celebrate and spoil moms, because they deserve it.

Ranch 45, Solana Beach
Ranch 45 in Solana Beach will be offering a Mother’s Day Brunch menu available for curbside pick up or delivery on Saturday May 8th and Sunday May 9th. Each dish on the menu includes four portions, and highlights include Chino Farms Artichoke and Summer Squash Quiche, Strawberry Crepes with whipped cream, and Brandt Rib Roast, served with Roasted Potatoes, Chino Farms Vegetables, and Gem Lettuce Salad. Additional options include Smoked Salmon Benedict, Bacon and Cheese Quiche, and an assortment of Breakfast Pastries. To complement the meal, guests may also add wine or beer to their purchase, ranging in price from $20 – $45, as well as pitchers of mimosas to cheers to mom. The menu is available for pre-order via Ranch 45’s website, and Ranch 45’s full breakfast and lunch menu will also be available for take out and dine in.

ARLO at Town and Country

Spoil mom this Mother’s Day with a slice of Palm Springs in the center of San Diego at the iconic Town and Country Resort. Sit back and sip on unlimited champagne as live music fills the air and indulge in scratch-made dishes using only the freshest ingredients and regional flavors at ARLO — San Diego’s newest destination eatery. Executive Chef Josh Mouzakes will be debuting a special brunch menu, with items ranging from breakfast specialities such as Porchetta & Cheese, a Cajun Chicken & Biscuit, Charcoal Avocado Toast, and Buffalo Egg Whites, to Santa Maria grill items such as Spot Prawns and Smoked Tri-Tip. With an expansive outdoor patio and fireplace, swaying palm trees to look upon, colorful craft cocktails and rich desserts, treat the special moms in your life on Sunday, May 9 from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. $60 per person/$20 per child (under the age of 12). From shops, to services, to dozens of eateries, One Paseo provides the perfect place to pick up mom’s gift, treat her to a massage, facial, or beauty treatment, or take her out for a delicious brunch or dinner. For the health conscious mama, swing by Parakeet Cafe, which offers a large selection of healthy eats, Sweetfin, or Tocaya Organica, or for a more indulgent dining option, try Nick’s, North Italia, or International Smoke. Don’t forget to pick up a sweet treat from Salt & Straw, Susie’s Cakes, or Le Macaron to show mama the love.

Shower your mom with roses and rosé during the Roses & Rosé Brunch this Mother’s Day at Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa. Pendry San Diego, Downtown

Downtown San Diego’s hip hotel houses Spa Pendry, an intimate yet opulent space offering luxurious treatments, specially bundled for Mom. Treat her to the Mom Spa Day Package, glowing with a 90-minute Pendry Massage or Hydrate + Regenerate Facial, complimentary glass of bubbly, a relaxing pool day with access to the Rooftop Pool, boasting some of the best views in Gaslamp Quarter, 10% discount at the Spa Boutique, a take-home Sculpted Lip Oil and $15 valet parking. Lionfish, Downtown

Give Mom what she really wants this Mother’s Day: family facetime, a clean kitchen, sustainable seafood and prime meats, and bottomless mimosas (or… sparkling rosé and aperol spritz). At the dynamic, design-driven hotspot on 5th Avenue, James Beard Smart Catch Leader and Executive Chef JoJo Ruiz will be debuting special menu items for Mom’s special day. Choose from a Softshell Benedict or Bombolini Duo, and indulge in bottomless mimosas, sparkling rose, & aperol spritz — all on top of a brunch menu that features Strawberry Ricotta Pancakes and Duck Duck Confit Hash to a Maine Lobster and Chorizo Scramble and 30oz. Seaside Brunch at Serẽa, Coronado, CA

Treat Mom to a one-of-a-kind beachfront brunch with a sea-to-table experience this Mother’s Day at Serẽa Coastal Cuisine, located at the iconic Hotel del Coronado. Prepared by Executive Chef JoJo Ruiz, a San Diego native and James Beard Smart Catch Leader, the entire family can expect a breath of fresh air (literally) from a menu that surprises and delights with standout seafood dishes including a daily selection of oysters (best paired with champagne and the oceanfront views) to enjoy on Serea’s expansive outdoor patio. From the indulgent sticky bun topped with candied fruits and soaked in a citrus glaze to the rich and savory shakshuka, an intoxicating blend of roasted peppers, tomato poached eggs and chickpeas accompanied by the crunch of freshly grilled Sourdough — Serea’s eclectic menu promises daring flavors that are warmly familiar. Special menu items include a White Chocolate Passion Fruit Tart, made with passionfruit orange cremeux, torched meringue, white chocolate mousse, and candied oranges, and a Shrimp Tortilla Espanol, made with bloomsdale spinach, scallop potatoes, and tomato guajillo sauce. Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa, Rancho Santa Fe

Escape to the hidden oasis of Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa this Mother’s Day for a special day among lush greenery, warm weather and decadent dining. In honor of Mother’s Day, The Gluten Free Baking Company will be offering a special Mother’s Day menu featuring a variety of treats to spoil mom. Specials include mini cakes, cookie cakes, cream puffs, scones, and speciality bagels, including cinnamon raisin, greek olive, garlic & rosemary, and jalapeno cheddar. To supplement the specials, the bakery’s general offerings, including donuts, cupcakes, muffins, cookies, cinnamon rolls, and coffee cake, will also be offered with a Mother’s Day twist. Pre-orders can be made via the bakery’s website here, and must be placed by Monday, May 3 for pickup Friday, May 7 or Saturday, May 8. Treats will also be available in the shop on a first come, first save basis, and the shop will be open on Mother’s Day to accommodate any last minute orders.
Treat mom to a truly delicious day at either of the InterContinental San Diego’s signature restaurants, Garibaldi and Vistal, both of which will be serving up Mother’s Day specials. Garibaldi, the rooftop getaway, has crafted a pre-fixe Mother’s Day brunch menu, featuring options such as Limoncello Pancakes, Sardinian Shrimp Scramble, and Aglianico Braised Lamb Shank Omelette. The three course menu costs $55 per person, and also includes Sweet and Savory Italian Pastries and Cassata Siciliana, a traditional ricotta gelato with candied fruit. To complete the meal, bottomless Aperol Spritzes or Prosecco are available for an additional $29 per person. Cheers to, mom! Vistal will also be celebrating mom with two a la carte brunch specials, a Lobster Egg Scramble with cherry tomatoes, asparagus, caviar, lemon hollandaise, and squash salad ($24) and the “Do it for Mom” Champagne Special, which is a bottle of 2005 Nicolas Feuillatte, Cuvée Spéciale Brut Millésimé for $149 (typically $190.) Reservations can be made here for Garibaldi and here for Vistal, and are recommended.
619 Spirits, North Park
Breakfast in bed is a sweet gesture, but unless you plan to clean up too, treat mom to brunch at 619 Spirits in North Park where they will be serving up $10 mimosa flights with blackberry, pineapple and blood orange juice and $8 Bloody Marys made with their signature 619 Vodka and housemade mix to celebrate Mother’s Day. The distillery and restaurant has a tasty brunch menu of breakfast favorites like a Croque Madame with prosciutto and gruyere and a simple stack of pancakes or if lunch is what mom is craving the brunch menu also includes items like a Caprese Salad or wings made with housemade 619 Scorpion sauce or homemade BBQ sauce. Brunch is available Saturday and Sunday from 10AM-2PM, but the $8 Bloodys and $10 flights are only available on Mother’s Day.
Valentina, Encinitas
Not quite ready to travel this Mother’s Day? Treat your Mom to brunch or dinner at Valentina, transporting her to the classic bistros of Mexico City, Spain and France. Be sure to turn off her alarm clock too, as brunch at Valentina doesn’t start until 11 a.m. and goes until 3 p.m. and features specials such as, Decadent Crab Benedict, Huevos y Relleno and the Catch of the Day. If your Mom’s morning is already booked up, visit Valentina for dinner, where specials include Potato Gnocchi, Grilled Lamb Chops and Peach Cobbler to be paired with Mom’s favorite wine. Mother’s Day dinner goes from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and reservations are recommended.
