Smoking Gun Brings Reimagined Southern Comfort Food to Gaslamp

By September 17, 2017 No Comments

Newly opened The Smoking Gun offers a fresh yet nostalgic spin on the neighborhood bar and restaurant. Look through a Viewfinder to check out their cocktail menu, designed by Eric Johnson. Go Southern with food, pick from an inspired menu from Executive Chef Kevin Templeton featuring local and sustainable dishes including brisket, pork shoulder and fried catfish. Vegetarians might be surprised how many Southern-style options are available, all of their delicious sides are made vegetarian — even the gravy, with a mushroom base! The menu (also a throwback design) is arranged for sharing, with meats and sides all ordered separately. Best way to dine is to invite a group of friends and order several meats, salads, and sides to share in one of their big cozy booths. After dinner, foosball, shuffleboard, and their theme nights will keep you entertained for hours.  Under what is simply titled “Market St. Meats,” sample Chef Kevin Templeton’s famous brisket. The Brandt Farms Beef Brisket is perfectly tender and prepared with a flavorful BBQ au jus. One of The Smoking Gun’s decadent (and vegetarian) sides, the Baked Mac N Cheese is a definite winner. Creamy, cheesy sauce compliments al dente elbow macaroni. Check out their happy hour deals where you can get mouth-watering cocktails for $10 and other drink specials including $5 drafts and hour wines Monday-Friday 4PM-7PM. Try the Goodbye Island for a tropical cocktail with a spicy kick, featuring Cruzan rum, passionfruit, lime, pineapple and serrano chili. The Smoking Gun located at 555 Market Ave San Diego 92101 from Monday – Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
